Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce
The Downtown Council of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to welcome Jeff Cannon of RiverCity Company and creator of the forward thinking Green/Spaces. This meeting will take place at The Read House, on Thursday, October 4th at 7:30am.
Jeff will introduce Chattanooga to this new grant program funding green sustainable buildings and will also will be talking about buildings’ impact on the power grid, he will share some easy do-it-yourself tips for any business looking to trim the bottom line, and will also explain how the fund will benefit Chattanooga. Jeff most recently served as Project Coordinator for RiverCity focusing on Main Street.
The RiverCity Company is a private, non-profit company chartered in 1986 to assist city and county governments and the private sector to spur economic development and the creation of great public spaces in downtown Chattanooga and along the riverfront.
Our non-profit meeting sponsor will be Anj McClain with the United States Green Building Council East Tennessee Chapter. Anj will provide an overview of this outstanding resource focusing on local involvement.

Kim Shinn will be available for a Q&A session at the DRC from 2pm-4pm following the CCIM seminar to discuss some of the things that are happening with other local governments and ways we can begin to incorporate green strategies in our own City government.
All USGBC members and City Officials are invited to attend.

High Speed Rail Public Meeting

The Tennessee and Georgia Departments of Transportation will have a public meeting to request input into the Atlanta to Chattanooga High Speed Ground Transportation Study. The study is part of the ongoing process to determine the environmental impact and feasibility of a high speed rail between Chattanooga and Atlanta.

Tremco's John Rutter will talk about "Green Vegetative Roofing"
This course will review the roofing approach known as vegetative roofing. We will explore the benefits, costs and limitations of this sustainable roofing technology as it applies to the end user, the designer and the society at large. A review of the various approaches will be presented, including extensive, semi-intensive and intensive options. The various system components of typical vegetative design will be explored including roof system options, root barriers, retention and drainage components, soils and planting options. The overall intent of the course is designed to give the participant a good functional understanding of this emerging technology.
